Our guidance for the following terms is simple: we’ll treat you the same way we want others to treat us.

Or better stated as the Golden Rule, in the Gospel of Matthew (7:12): “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you. . . .”

Your expectations are different from everybody else’s, including, but not limited to hotel room, dining, special diet,activities, even mundane things like doing laundry; we’ll accomodate all your needs.

Here are our key common sense policies and information, without a ton of legal jargon:

NOTE: We don’t receive any commission for third party services (i.e. hotels, restaurants, car rentals, etc.).

PRICING POLICY

Independent Travel

After planning together your itinerary, you’ll travel unescorted. Our support starts from your arrival at Athens airport continues until your departure.

Cost includes our planning fee, plus all third party services, i.e. hotels, domestic flights, ferries, car rentals, certified guides. The planning fee depends on the group size.

What’s included:

Detailed daily itinerary with timetable, on your private webpage.
Reservations at hotels/lodgings of your choice.
Car rentals and airport transfer reservations.
All required deposits/payments.
Itemized list of all services with prices, along with cancellation deadlines.
Optimized driving route
Best walking paths for large historic sites.
Information about the sites you plan to visit, plus activities.
List of restaurants and tavernas.
Cultural details and idiosyncrasies of Greeks.

Hotels:

We can handle reservation and payments; many times we can get better prices, especially at boutique hotels. We pass this benefit 100% to you.

Domestic flights, ferries, activities, etc.

Same policy holds for domestic flights and ferries, plus all activities, including sites and museums.

We can offer advice concerning:

Airfare to and from home country to Athens.
Trip cancellation insurance.

Steps:

As soon as we receive your inquiry form we’ll contact you to customize your private tour.
Email exchanges, followed by video calls; learn your expectations and match them to a personalized itinerary.
You’ll receive initial trip schedule, with places, and sites, at least 8 weeks before traveling.
After agreement proceed with registration and deposit payment.
Upon receipt of your deposit you will receive a link to a private webpage, detailing your itinerary.
Once your itinerary is finalized we’ll proceed with all reservations.
Final payment is due 60 days before departure; you can make partial payments anytime prior to the deadline.

Escorted Travel

Note: Fully escorted tours are available on mainland Greece, plus the islands of Crete and Corfu.

Our escorted service will cover you all day, from 9:oo am to 6:00 pm. At any time you can choose to have more free time; absolutely your choice.

Each escorted trip icludes a driver, plus guide(s). One couple is accomodated with a SUV; two or three couples are handled by a 8-people van. Taking 6 people makes for a more comfortable trip. Also logistics for a group of more than six people (3 couples) require a commercial van, plus boutique hotels accomodations become scarce.

Different situations, like singles, a family, and more than 6 people, will be handled on case-by-case.

*From Athens you can take daily trips to Delphi, Ancient Corinth area, Mycanae-Nafplion, Epidaurus-Hermioni. Please note that each location is unique trip, i.e. you can’t cover more than one in a single day.

Transportation costs by car, including airport transfers¹.

Meals: breakfast everyday; welcome & farewell dinners.
Detailed daily itinerary with timetable, on your own private webpage.
Activities and excursions as indicated on itinerary advice.
Flexibility with itinerary changes.
Entrance fees for museums and archaeological sites.
Gratuties and tips.
Bottled water and healthy snacks when we’re on the road.

Not included:

Airfare to and from home country to Athens.
Trip cancellation insurance.
Ministry certified guides.

Booking steps:

As soon as we receive your inquiry form we’ll contact you to customize your private tour together.
Start email exchanges, followed by video calls; learn your expectations and match them to a great itinerary.
You’ll receive initial trip schedule, with places, and sites.
After agreement proceed with registration and deposit payment.
Upon receipt of your deposit a private page link is emailed, so you can view your detailed itinerary advice.
Once your itinerary is finalized we’ll proceed with all reservations.
Final payment is due 60 days before departure; you can make partial payments anytime prior to the deadline.
Within 48-72 the final itinerary advice will be posted on your private page, with detailed daily timetable.

Total cost: multiply our fee by the number the days you travel escorted in Greece.

Flexible Travel

Itineraries that mix escorted travel with private (or independent) are our specialty. Pricing will be the sum of fees for Private Travel days and fees for Escorted Travel days, as described below.

For example: for three (3) days private (independent) and seven (7) days escorted:

total cost = (3 × Private Travel fee ) + (7 × Escorted Travel fee); fees are described above under Private & Escorted Travel.

We can plan any itinerary, including days in Athens, based on your exact needs and desired level of services.

CHILDREN

Most travel agencies consider children 12 years or older as adults. For escorted tours we apply lower rates for children, based on our discussions before you book your vacation. For example if you are traveling with one child, and we find a suitable hotel/lodging that allows room sharing, we’ll adjust the rate accordingly.

AMENDMENTS

After your booking is confirmed, if you want to make changes, we will do our best to accommodate; however, we can’t guarantee that this will be possible, especially during peak season. We don’t charge any administration fee on our side; any additional fees incurred are due to our suppliers’ policies.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

We follow a rolling cancellation timetable based on our suppliers policies; without a single cutoff date for cancellations, you can maximize your refund.

Private (independent) travel planning:

You’ll get a full refund minus the deposit, until the last date for full refund from first supplier; this is usually a hotel or villa or boat reservation.
After that your refund will be reduced by the amounts shown on the supplier refund schedule, attached to your travel itinerary.

Escorted travel planning:

Our fee is fully refunded minus the deposit, until the day before your departure.
For all other suppliers according to their schedule; i.e. same as for private travel.

Once your request for cancellation is received by email, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment. It may take a few days, before your refund is credited to your account.

INSURANCE

Any kind of travel has risks, just like any other activity, including our mundane daily routines:

a. Major risks: this includes physical injury (incl. death) for any reason, including but not limited to: walking through a site, driving a rental car, hiking or any other activity, earthquake, strikes and civil disturbances, and acts of God. Our vendors are properly licensed and insured, under the jurisdiction of Greek courts.

We strongly advise to protect yourself and family, with a policy from your home country, that covers travel risks in Greece. Also make sure your life and health insurance covers you while traveling; public hospitals do treat tourists pro bono, if not insured.

b. Minor risks: this includes delays and/or cancellations because of failure of any means of transportation to comply with schedules, weather, detention, emergency government regulations, theft (luggage and/or other personal items).

A simple travel insurance will cover losses from flight delays, loss or theft of luggage, lost connections for any reason. Usually these types of disruptions result in missed hotel accommodations and/or transportation reservations; we’ll do our best to remedy them, without incurring extra fees.

Custom Greece Tours (including its owners and employees) act only an agent for the passengers in regard to all transportation (car rental, buses, ferry boats etc.) and all other related travel services as stated in the itinerary/travel arrangements agreed upon by customer. We assume no liability for any risks as described above.
