Lefkada Island

December 15, 2025

Lefkada is defined by its dramatic western coastline where towering white cliffs plunge hundreds of feet into the “electric blue” waters that have made beaches like Porto Katsiki and Egremni world-famous.

Lefkada is one of the most unique islands in Greece, primarily because it is the only one you can reach by car. Connected to the mainland by a small floating swing bridge, it offers the convenience of the mainland with the “electric” turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea.

Ithaca Island

Ithaca (Ithaki in Greek) is a beautiful and historic island located in the Ionian Sea, just off the west coast of Greece, part of the namesake Ionian Islands.

It is most famous for its connection to mythology and literature as the mythical homeland of Odysseus (Ulysses), the hero of Homer’s epic poem, the Odyssey.  Odysseus displays hubris, insulting the gods, especially Poseidon (Neptune) the god of the seas,  overstepping the boundaries between mortals and the divine. For that he is   punished by his quest to return home, his yearning to reunite with Penelope and Telemachus, his infant son, and the loss of his entire crew.

The island has become a timeless symbol for the journey, the quest for home, and the deep feeling of nostalgia, immortalized in the poem “Ithaca” by Constantine P. Cavafy.

Island of Corfu

Corfu, often called the “Emerald Isle” of the Ionian Sea, is  defined by its vibrant greenery and diverse coastline. Unlike the dry, white-washed landscapes of the Cyclades, Corfu is characterized by millions of ancient olive trees, cypress forests, and rolling hills that stay verdant year-round thanks to its mild, humid climate. Its northern region is dominated by rugged mountains, while the south transitions into gentler, fertile plains and long stretches of golden sandy beaches.

Corfu serves as a unique cultural crossroads, bearing the distinct architectural and social imprints of the Venetians, French, and British.  This multicultural heritage is evident in its capital, Corfu Town, with its architecture, famous philharmonic bands, games of cricket on the Spianada square—a legacy of British rule. Finally, Corfu cuisine is a marriage of  Greek flavors and Italian influences.
